You may choose to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere around Entebbe, take a gentle walk, or simply settle into your accommodation and prepare for the safari ahead. If you arrive early enough, there may also be time for a short optional visit to one of Entebbe’s nearby attractions, depending on your interests and flight schedule. Tonight, enjoy your first evening in Uganda and get ready for the journey west tomorrow. The adventure begins with Queen Elizabeth National Park, where open savannah, lakes, forests and wildlife create one of Uganda’s most memorable safari landscapes.

Along the way, there will be opportunities to stop for refreshments, photographs and lunch. Depending on your interests and timing, a stop at the Equator can also be arranged before continuing towards the park. As you approach Queen Elizabeth National Park, the scenery gradually changes into the beautiful landscapes of the western Rift Valley. The park lies about 410 kilometres west of Kampala, with road journeys from the Entebbe/Kampala area generally taking most of the day. The experience is not only about spotting animals but also about enjoying the landscapes and learning about the park’s ecosystems. After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and some time to relax. In the afternoon, head to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. The waterway is one of the park’s most celebrated wildlife experiences, offering close views of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and many bird species along the shoreline. As the boat moves gently across the channel, enjoy the peaceful scenery and unforgettable connection with Uganda’s wild side.

The drive takes you back through western Uganda, with opportunities to stop for lunch, photographs and short breaks along the way. Depending on your flight schedule, your guide can make suitable stops without compromising your airport arrival time. The return journey is another chance to appreciate Uganda beyond its wildlife, passing through rural communities, farms and changing landscapes along the route. Queen Elizabeth National Park is a substantial road journey from the Entebbe/Kampala area, so sufficient time should be allowed for the transfer and any possible delays. The Wild Road trip

Uganda's roads offer a varied and scenic travel experience, from smooth highways to winding routes through the country's mountainous and rural landscapes. Some sections of the safari involve unpaved park roads and rural dirt tracks, which can be uneven and occasionally bumpy, most travellers calling the bumpiness ‘African massage’. This safari is operated using a well-maintained safari vehicle suited to both long-distance travel and the interior tracks of the national parks.
